This year our Homecoming will recognize that we are "Fired Up.” This extraordinary week of activities, October 4-10, means it is time for you to come home and experience first-hand the special feelings that are catching fire in the life of Defiance College!

More than memories, we are "Fired Up” with the enthusiasm of seeing one another. We are "Fired Up” with all the initiatives to grow DC's student body with our student enrollment being at its highest since the early 70's. We are "Fired Up” as we celebrate the success of our comprehensive campaign "The Transforming Difference,” allowing us to remodel Tenzer Hall, Schomburg Auditorium, Whitney Residence Hall, Weaner and McMaster Center, establish new scholarships, and provide over $1,000,000 a year in enrichment activities and budget support. And with the end of the campaign in sight
build a new field house, remodel McReynolds, and promote new faculty initiatives.

We are "Fired Up” that our Center for Adult and Graduate Programs is having a great year as adults continue to pursue their Bachelor and Master degrees during challenging times. We are "Fired Up” about all of our initiatives in alumni relationships with 33 regions of alumni continuing to form and meet, a new Alumni National Mentoring Network with over 100 signed up, and Alumni/Student lunches where wisdom and career advice is shared with tomorrow's alumni. There is so much more to share, but that is what Homecoming is for. Come back. Hear about all the exciting things that are happening. Come feel the fire!

Of special note, along with a host of child-friendly activities on Saturday, we are making childcare available on campus for Friday evening and Saturday all day/evening when alumni parents need trusted hands so they can feel comfortable participating in the adult activities.

So let's get "Fired Up” about being part of all the Homecoming activities. Let's get "Fired Up” about renewing long-time relationships and building new ones.

Sincerely Yours,

Rev. David G. Plant ‘73
